With growing recognition of their role in achieving sustainable development goals, green buildings integrate energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy sources, and sustainable materials.
Moldova's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions aligns with the EU's green transition goals, highlighting the need for education, discussion, and collaboration among stakeholders.
To raise awareness and increase understanding about buildings, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, in cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham Moldova, organized on June 3, 2024, the "Sustainable Horizons: Charting Moldova Green Building Investment Future" Public Talk.
The event aimed at:
- understanding green building principles and practices;
- create a platform for collaboration between industry stakeholders;
- showcasing success stories and best practices;
- highlight the importance of decarbonizing the building sector to mitigate climate change and discuss strategies to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings through energy efficiency, integration of renewable energy and sustainable materials;
- encouraging alignment with international standards and practices in green building.
The event was organized in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Finance (Austria), The Facility for Investment Climate Advisory Services, and the IFC Green Banking Academy.
