The American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova held a public discussion: "Construction and demolition waste in the context of the circular economy."
Construction and demolition waste (CDW) represents more than a third of all waste generated in the EU. They contain various materials such as concrete, bricks, wood, glass, metals, and plastic. Large amounts of CDW and poor management burden the environment, society, and economy. Understanding the barriers can promote the development of ecologically sound, socially harmless, and economically viable strategies.
The event was dedicated to professionals in the construction and demolition industry, companies and entrepreneurs interested in innovative solutions for CDW management, representatives of local and central authorities responsible for environmental policies and waste management, ecologists and environmental activists, but also the general public interested in the ecological issues and sustainability.
The purpose of the discussion was to promote the exchange of knowledge between decision-makers, experts, stakeholders, and the public on challenges and opportunities in construction and demolition waste management, as well as on good practices in the use of modern technologies for recycling.
