The COVID-19 pandemic has made it clear that the transition towards a cashless and financially inclusive economy is a must, as opposed to nice to have and its pace should be significantly accelerated. In fact, payments play a fundamental role in any economy, irrespective of its level of development, the payments system becoming one of the critical elements of trade and a key area of ICT innovation. Innovative payment services are beginning to offer alternative solutions to legacy payment systems, traditionally created by banks. The main role of public authorities here, is to ensure that people will have the chance to choose a payment system they prefer, based on their business models and personal preferences, providing equal regulatory opportunities for everyone.
Implicitly, there is a growing demand for access to information on new solutions and opportunities, and subsequently enhancing the financial literacy of society, with the purpose of establishing a strong link between the financial education and the level of well-being and the informed understanding of financial mechanisms in the public and private spheres.
The conference is organized in partnership with FINEDU and USAID Moldova Structural Reforms Project.
Moderator(s): Veronica Sirețeanu (Policy Manager, AmCham Moldova) and Alexandru Gozun (Head of PwC Moldova Office, AmCham Moldova BOD member and member of AmCham's Digital Transformation Committee)
